Excitied for the week ahead!

Postby Liquid86 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:20 pm

So,

Everything is just falling into line today the way it should! As I prepare to leave tomorrow I had a number of things to accomplish - many of them involving my car.

On my way home I swing into Wally World to grab some essentials. I needed to change my Oil before the long drive to point tomorrow morning, and we were approaching critically low levels of Milk, Paper Towels, etc. So I grab a cart and get to shopping. I pass an endcap with an 8 pack of paper towels for 5 bucks. Win. I continue down to automotive to get some 5W-30 Mobil 1 (I use full synthetic, only having to change your oil every 10,000 - 15,000 miles is pretty schweet), I grab one of their 5 quart jobbies and roll on towards the oil filters. I've done this enough times to bypass the little reference book (my pontiac uses filter number 3387A). I find however, that the specific type of filter I need (the extended guard filter for synthetic oil) is GONE! SOLD OUT! My heart sank, I didn;t wanna make another stop, let alone spend an extra 5-10 bucks to get it at an auto parts store. I glance up and see a lone XG filter sitting on top of the shelf out of place. it's model: XG3387A!!!!! WIN! I got the last one baby.

I grab everything else (finding 2% milk is below 2 bucks/gal again!), pay the nice folks, and head on home. I get my car up on the Jack, grab my 15mm box wrench and go to work. Everything gets changed and I fire up the ole' Grand Prix. Before I walked outside after changing into some grubbier clothes, I noticed the time was 5:45. While I listened to my engine purr beautifully I look down at my watch to see it's only 6:07. WIN. NEW OIL CHANGE RECORD! 23 MINUTES! I go on to further notice I'm not bleeding. Anywhere. That's right, I fixed something on my car quickly WITHOUT INJURING MYSELF, A LOVED ONE OR A PET! I've still got marks, scars and open cuts from 3 weeks ago when I replaced Kate's wheel hub assembly, and anyone else who works on their car on a regular basis knows that it's nigh impossible to do anything with your car and not at least scrape a knuckle! EPIC WIN!

Anyways, I'm off to point tomorrow for a couple days then back home for a vacation after that ( i needs to spend me some quality time with mah fiance). I hope this awesome luck/win streak continues! *knocks on wood*

Before the previous year I've never heard Wal-Mart referred to as Wally World.

Also, good job with the non-injurious oil change. I just let the shop handle those tasks, but now that I know that the true art of working on cars is minimizing harm I'm going to subtly glance and count the scars on each of the mechanics.

Whenever I have to do something more than routine maintenance on my vehicles, something always breaks or is stuck in place. So I always expect the worst and do my deeds at my Dad's garage. I also expect to get cuts.

Hanging out was an awesome time.
Given that I would never live that down, I made a wisecrack instead. "Do you have a little white dress? I've had this deep-seated nurse fantasy about you, Murphy."
